Twin Ports Zumba® - Ditch the Workout, Join The Party™!

Frequently Asked Questions/Tips

1.  What are the best shoes to wear in a Zumba® class?

Zumba® Fitness recommends that you wear "cross training" or "aerobic" style shoes. They provide the cushion and medial lateral support needed for side-to-side movements. They also have low traction rubber for easy sliding and turning. Please be careful with "running shoes" since they use a heavy tread on the bottom and are designed for forward movement.

2.  Do I have to know how to dance?

Absolutely not!   I will teach you easy-to-master moves for each song.  If you love music, this is for you!  We won't be judging your salsa or merengue skills.  We are all coming together to have a good time.  Just jump in, do your best and enjoy the music!

3.  What should I wear?

Dress in clothes that breathe and allow you to move comfortably.  A good, supportive bra (for the ladies) is also a good option.

4.  What should I bring?

Water!  It is very important to stay hydrated.  You should drink water (or some type of sports drink) BEFORE, DURING and AFTER class.

A small towel, if you'd like - you will sweat!

Enthusiasm and wild abandon!   This is more than exercise!  For one hour, we can go sweat, dance, have fun and be silly!  For that one hour we are all equal, we're all beautiful/handsome and we're all strong!

5.  What type of music is used?

You will hear all types of music!  Merengue, Salsa, Reggaeton, Flamenco, Samba, Tango, Cumbia, Calypso, Cha Cha and Belly Dance!

6.  Will I be able to keep up?

Go at your own pace.  Listen to your body.  If you feel tired or out of breath, slow down, don't use your arms and/or just walk in place.  Your body needs to build up strength and endurance.  Don't think that you have to do it all right away.
